to the rocky road through the hills beyond

Monarchs of all they survey!

At last wide open spaces......
over the stile with Fern... and lunch stop

And so to Grassington and the Dickensian Crhistmas Festival
for the afternoon....

The town crier led the procession

There was the sound of music everywhere.

The residents were dressed in period costume, with children as chimney sweeps, shoe-shine boys etc

Dutch street organ

As the light faded, now and again a familiar face appeared in the crowd, among the musicians, rope walker-cum-fire-eater, organ grinder and monkey, morris dancers,
Punch and Judy etc

The evening ended with a procession
led by
'Mary' on a donkey
and carols in the Town Square
accompanied by the Barnoldswick Band
(On the left the 'stable')

and so home again
after a very enjoyable day.

A big thankyou to the organisers - including the people of Grassington of course!
