The town crier led the procession There was the sound of music everywhere. The residents were dressed in period costume, with children as chimney sweeps, shoe-shine boys etc |

| As the light
faded, now and again a familiar face appeared in the crowd, among the musicians,
rope walker-cum-fire-eater, organ grinder and monkey, morris dancers, Punch and Judy etc |
