8.00 pm - followed by hot pot supper £2.00
The aims of the Ladies' Group are :
- to provide an opportunity for the ladies of the parish and their visitors to meet socially and spiritually
- to act as a link between the priest and the ladies of the parish
- to serve the parish in any way that members feel that they are able
- to promote Christian unity and foster links with other churches and denominations within our area and to exchange visits to their functions
Members meet twice monthly. The committee arrange a wide variety of entertainment, speakers and demonstrations. All members are invited to submit ideas enabling the committee to arrange events to please everyone.
Talks - over very many years - have been on such varied topics as local history, aromatherapy, make-up, health foods, charitable organisations, waste collection, hospices, the fire service, slide shows and talks on exotic places, the Holy Land and places nearer home, cookery, First Aid, visits to garden centres, the theatre......
At least twice a year members enjoy outings to local hotels and restaurants. Friends are invited.
In November we remember our deceased members in the celebration of Mass. This is followed by supper in the Parish Centre.
In January during the week of Ecumenism groups of ladies from Fulwood and Broughton Covenanted churches join us for our meeting which is preceded by a short service in church and followed by a talk and supper. Some of our members pay return visits to covenanted churches.
Each year we support a charity and to help raise funds there is a sales table available at each meeting. Members are very generous with donations throughout the year. Other charities are supported by donations from some of our speakers.
