From the parish leaflet, Sunday July 21st: "Our visitors duly arrived on Tuesday evening at Heathrow and reached Preston at 4.00 am Wednesday with a lot of sleep to catch up. Maybe they hadn't quite recovered by Thursday afternoon when the football match ended England 5, USA 3 after a rather confusing 20-a-side game. The barbecue that evening was a great success - in spite of the huge numbers of people who came, the chefs and helpers coped wonderfully. After two days of sunshine the weather has reverted to true form and it has been raining as we set off for Castlerigg. More news next week."
A special lunch and a buffet supper after the evening Mass were arranged for Sunday July 21st to give the parishioners an opportunity to meet the young people from Hudson, Wisconsin. All were invited.

From the parish leaflet, Sunday July 28th: "...After two days in the Lakes which included the Haverthwaite Railway, Windermere Steamers, an overnight stay at Castlerigg, the Keswick Launch and a walk in Borrowdale (when the sun shone!) we returned to a busy Sunday. We must thank all the people involved in providing the lunch and the buffet after the young people had helped to celebrate evening Mass. Monday saw a visit to the Town Hall, where we met the Mayor, the Guild Hall and a chance to sample the delights of Blackpool in the evening! In rapid succession we spent days in Chester, Skipton and Alton Towers. Friday and Saturday [were] time to catch our breath a little."
Preparing the music for Mass Readings by our visitors From the parish leaflet, Sunday August 11th: "The visit to London went well (and we had sunshine while Preston was being drenched!) We fitted in a cruise on the Thames, visits to the Tower, St Paul's and all the usual tourist spots, the Lyceum theatre for the 'Lion King', and even a visit to Harrods. The Hudson group left for Heathrow on Saturday morning and a diminished party returned to Preston - by then the sun was shining here."
